A few months ago, I was watching a YouTube video where a guy was discussing what it takes to be a “Real Man.” He was basically stating that a “Real Man” is an entrepreneur and business person. Then he went onto state that “studies have shown that successful entrepreneurs have higher levels of testosterone than other men.
I found this argument laughable. Why? He didn’t name the study. Moreover, If you were to randomly pick a bunch of men lifting weights in any prison yard in the United States and compare their testosterone levels to businessmen in a Microsoft boardroom, I can guarantee that the guys on the prison yard win every time.
On a more somber note, testosterone levels in men have been dropping consistently for the last 20 years. If you are worried about test levels here are some tips that can keep your levels healthy.
- Avoid canned foods. Cans are lined with BPA, which is a hormone disruptor. This can lead to low test levels in men.
- Avoid plastic container and bottles. These also incorporate BPA and may effect hormone levels adversely.
- Exercise regularly.
- Avoid Sugar. Sugar causes the pancreas to produce insulin. If you are consuming to much sugar, you become insulin resistant. A body that is insulin resistant may produce less testosterone. I know it’s not easy, because almost everything has sugar in it these days.
- Avoid Steroids. One of the drawbacks of using steroids is that once you stop using, your body has stopped producing the hormones that it otherwise would produce. So, unless you know how to cycle correctly, avoid steroids at all costs.
Until next time …
